Day by day

  1. Day 01

    Day 1: Journey to the Hills - Train to Chittagong & Drive to Bandarban

    Board the first nonstop train from Dhaka to Chittagong, a scenic ride through countryside, villages and rivers. On arrival visit the Sitakunda ship breaking yards, one of the world's largest, and the nearby scrap markets, then drive 100 km to Bandarban, stopping at scenic viewpoints for sunset.

  2. Day 02

    Day 2: Hiking & Tribal Life - Tripura Village and Sangu River Cruise

    Start with a short hike to a Tripura tribal village in the foothills, known for vibrant clothing and intricate ornaments. Enjoy a traditional tribal lunch of bamboo shoots, hill herbs and smoked meats, then board a country boat for a Sangu River cruise as villagers bathe, fish and play by the riverside at sunset.

  3. Day 03

    Day 3: Market Day & Remote Hill Villages

    Explore the tribal markets, best on Sunday or Wednesday, where Marma, Mro, Tripura and Bawm groups gather to trade and socialize. Drive deeper into the hills to visit Mro and Bawm villages known for their weaving traditions, then head to Tiger Hill to watch the sunset over the misty hills.

  4. Day 04

    Day 4: Return to Chittagong & Train to Dhaka

    Drive back to Chittagong, stopping to explore the WWII Cemetery, the Chandanpura Mosque and the bustling port area. Board the afternoon train to Dhaka, enjoying a final look at the countryside, and arrive in the evening for the end of the tour.

Do foreign tourists need a permit for the Bandarban Hill Tracts?
Yes. Foreign tourists must obtain a Hill Tracts permit at least 10 days before travel, so passport and visa copies must be sent in advance. Local authorities may delay or deny permits for security reasons, in which case Bangladesh Eco Adventure is not liable for cancellations.
Can I fly instead of taking the train to Chittagong?
Yes. Domestic flights between Dhaka and Chittagong are available as an upgrade option for approximately USD 35 one way.
